Get started with Ledger Nano devices using Ledger.com/start. This guide covers installation, PIN setup, recovery phrase safety, firmware updates, and essential crypto security tips.
Ledger.com/start ensures you’re always downloading official Ledger Live software, avoiding phishing, and using current setup instructions. It’s the safest path to activate your Ledger Nano S Plus or Nano X while protecting your digital assets.
Unbox your device carefully. You should see the Ledger wallet, a USB cable, and recovery sheets. Packaging should be intact. If anything looks tampered with, do not proceed — reach out to Ledger Support.
Visit Ledger.com/start and select Ledger Live for your OS (Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android). Avoid unofficial download sites. Ledger Live acts as your management hub for accounts, apps, and firmware.
Turn on your Nano and create a secure PIN. The device generates a 24-word recovery phrase. Write it down on the provided recovery sheet. Never take a digital copy. Whoever has your phrase has full access to your funds.
Open Ledger Live and install the blockchain apps you need (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana). Add accounts, verify addresses on your Ledger screen, and confirm every transaction directly on the device to avoid malware risks.
Firmware and Ledger Live updates patch vulnerabilities and add support for new coins. Perform updates only through Ledger Live, and never disconnect your device while an update is in progress.
Ledger Live runs an authenticity check when you connect your device. If verification fails, contact Ledger support immediately.
Unfortunately, without your recovery phrase, you cannot access your funds. Ledger cannot replace it. Protect it from the start.
It’s not recommended. Always use private, secure internet to minimize exposure to potential threats.
